Hump Day Miscellany – the Post WF version

1). Do you know how many Hump Day Miscellany posts I dedicated to Wildflower? A lot. Boy was I obsessed – really obsessed.

2). I was mostly obsessed with my ability to do it – I did it.

3). My obsession then turned to humiliation – I barely did it.

4). I’m over it – I did it and that’s a good thing and my triathlon performance can only go up from here. Thanks to everyone for your continuous support and encouragement. I needed it, I heard it and it worked.

5). Did you get the implications of #5 – I’m probably going to do Folsom in August but I haven’t signed up just yet

6). I bought a wetsuit. I bought a wetsuit even though I promised myself I would stop spending money on triathlon for a little while. I love this wetsuit. And most important of all – I CAN GET IT OFF! So there goes 5 minutes of my T1 time – good riddance. I can also zip it up myself. Love it. You know you are in love when you spend money on something you really shouldn’t spend money on. *slurp* – I ♥ triathlon.

7). Next up – The Dread Pirate Rackham rolls in to town on Friday for an overnight stop at Chez 21CM before she heads to the city to hang with her friends. We are going swimming Saturday and then running the Bay to Breakers Sunday

8). I’m in no shape to run a 12K but since when has that ever stopped me?

9). I blew off my 6 mile run this morning but I WILL get it done this evening. I must.

Wildflower – The Movie is about to undergo some expansion. If you have photos from WF that you would like to have included please email them to me.

There is nobody in the world that looks like THAT in a wetsuit. I closely resemble a sack of potatoes, myself. Except maybe YOU look like that. 🙂

  2. Shelley says:

I love that wetsuit…I need a new one, but can’t afford such a luxury right now..oh well!!

I think I have maybe onemore post about WF too…but then maybe it’s too far gone already. But I think about it still quite a bit. It does that to you somehow! Have fun at the Bay to Breakers run! That sure is a crazy one isn’t it??? (Take pix!)

Is that a “women’s specific” wetsuit? It seems very… shapely. I can’t imagine a man’s head atop that suit as it’s pictured, anyway. 🙂

I also told myself I would stop spending money on triathlon, but it didn’t take. So frustrating. Unfortunately, we have chosen an expensive sport. Really expensive. A rich mans sport of sorts. But it’s our own fault, triathletes that is. Triathletes are willing to spend $1200.00 for a set of handle bars, or $3,000 for wheels. In fact, I bet they could jack the prices up even more and triathletes will fork it out. In general, triathletes have money, except me of course, and they’ll pay 50 bucks for a carbon bottle cage because it saves a few grams. We are addicted to the latest and greatest innovations, and the people that produce the stuff know this, so they charge high prices for it. I would do the same thing. Anyway, sorry about the rant, but I have been struggling with this too. I sometimes feel like I’ve chosen the wrong sport, but I just love it so much. I guess sometimes you can’t put a price tag on everything, right? But 1200 for handlebars? This is why I have chosen to make reasonable purchases only. Don’t get carried away, spend some money on what you love, and enjoy it. Not sure if this helped or not, but I have found myself in the same boat as you many times.

  8. Laurie says:

I am so happy to hear that you heart triathlon!

I knew you would come out on the other side of Wildflower a stronger woman. 🙂

  9. Tammy says:

Hey, one of my running clients is doing Bay to Breakers!! I didn’t even realize where you lived.

Have a great race! Sweet wetsuit, too.

  10. Dori says:

Next you’ll be buying one of those pointy helmets. If you do, don’t tell Donald. 🙂

  11. but i neeeed it!

heh. yeah, I’ll be the last person to talk you out of buying gear. Just sayin’.

    See you tomorrow!! Yaaay!

  12. Lucas says:

Geez this snouds so hard core. The change in routine should be great, though! It reminds me that I really need to learn to swim…Reply
