I am in the OC right now – at company HQ in Irvine. Last night my team went out for a bonding dinner. When I got home I did a little tipsy blogging and then lost the post – arrghhh…. but you should probably count your blessings.
I just have to say that I could never live here for 3 reasons. I think it is illegal to:
a). Have dark air if you are of Euro distraction. All Caucasian women must have their hair frosted at the very least but most of them seem to go straight to blond (I am a brunette with no plans to change that ever).
b). Have any body fat or a flat chest (I have both)
c). Wear shoes and carry handbags that don’t bear designer labels. In fact, I think all of your clothing has to be designer labeled.
I am so not an OC BP, hence I cannot live here. I know this because we had dinner last night at La Casa-I’m-S0-Beautiful-And-Chic . They have a roof top deck with a fabulous view of the ocean and the food was to die for so all was not lost. I decided that since I had to go out for a team dinner instead of hanging out with Hip and SMSMH I would go all in and have a mojito. Yee Ha!
Help Me buy a car! (Look left and vote in the poll!)
I am currently driving a 12 year old Volvo 960 wagon I love. However, I really don’t need a car that big and it gets horrible gas mileage. Thanks to Bold’s very brave post about cars I’ve decided to let you folks help me out by casting your vote for the best car to fit my needs. And just for the record – I work out of my house most of the time so I win the low mileage contest!
Here is the profile of my perfect vehicle:
1). Great gas mileage (at least 30 mpg)
2). Handles well – my Volvo has an exquisite turning ratio and I love that
3). Has a high safety rating
4). Can be driven off the lot for $20,000 flat and no more
5). Is probably a 2 – 4 year old low mileage off lease vehicle.
Please cast your write in votes or just use the handy poll to your right!
TIA
I am first – YIPPPEEE!I would either get a Saturn sedan or a Honda Accord. Both very good car, from what I have told.

No votes for your car but I just wanted to say that I am sorry that we missed your tipsy bloggin’. You are so funny and clever sober, I can’t imagine what it must have been like. Have fun being brunette in OC. I know the feeling as much of Tom’s family lives there.
honda civic sounds like plenty of car for your needs! i like the poll thing. fun!
p.s. oh i made my VERY last car payment yesterday. FREEDOM!!! i won’t be buying another car again for decades, god willing!
On the seaside resort where we (BK and wife) spend the summer vacations, a woman very close to us (the umbrellas are very close) solved this problem in the best way: her lover bought for her a Mercedes and gave her a credit card.
i’ll cast my vote with Stefano.mercedes, seaside resorts, and umbrellas.you pretty much lost me at $20K.
Stefano. Brilliance. as usual!
Hey! I stayed at the Del Camino last August. It’s a great place and I love the rooftop terrace. I know what you mean about the blonde and the beautiful, but let me tell you about the Del. Back in the 60s, Laguna Beach was a hippie haven and the entry point to illegal drugs from Mexico. The Del Camino was a flop house for long-haired druggies who partied on the nearby beach and in their rooms. Uhhh, not that I would have any first-hand knowledge of that stuff. :-)I vote for a Prius, if you can find one at your price. Otherwise, Honda Civic is a good bet. I just love the Mini Coopers, but don’t know what kind of mileage they get.
i came THIS () close to riding your path and placing stakes in the ground marking your turns…dangit.and don’t worry, you’ll fit in just FINE with smsmh and i next time. she’s a brunette with no plans to change AND i doubt we own ANYTHING other than fitness stuff that is name brand. you can come over and we can make fun of the social elite together. =)
I love my Saab Sport-Combi – it’s been my most favoritest car ever.
I don’t know anything about cars but I think the Jetta is hot.I drive a soccer mom mini van for easy bike transport though.
Honda Accord – much better looking than the Civic!
I have a VW… and it is terribly expensive to fix. YIKES! Something to keep in mind.
Honda Civic Hybrid. Or the new Accord. I swear by Hondas and Acuras. Never had a problem. And great mileage, natch.
I LOVE Honda’s….SWEAR by them. One of my cars is a 93 civic that I swear will never, ever die. My grandmother had ALL kinds of probs with her Subaru wagon..don’t know if that was a fluke or what. If you can spare the expense..go for the hybrid–think of all the free car-pool driving!Just my 2 cents. Good luck
I’ll vote for the Scion because we all know that all 21st century Moms should drive what look like clown cars, hehe! No seriously, the Outbacks are good!
I vote for the Mercedes and Italian lover. Was that a package deal?Stefano, do you have to be blond and full-breasted to qualify for the sub $20K discount, plus open credit line?
